If you’re anything like us, there’s not a day that goes by that you don’t listen to music.
It’s around us all the time and everyone has a specific song or an album that when you hear it playing, you travel back in time to an exact place and time in your life. Music reminds us of some of the best times; it sets the tone, creates an atmosphere, has the power to calm, excite and lift a room!
And when that music is live, anything can happen.

Since 2OO9, we've been fortunate enough to share in over 2OO wedding days with loved up couples and their guests.
We've played at intimate wedding ceremonies, wild evening parties with 5OO guests and everything in between. We’ve learnt what works well and used our experience to put together a selection of songs and packages that will create just the right atmosphere at the right time to help make this the most incredible day of your life.

Did we say ‘award winning’?
YES! We are over the moon to announce that we have just been crowned as Wedding Band Of The Year at The Dorset Wedding Awards 2018!
In 2017 at the same awards, we won the Peers Choice award having been voted the best wedding supplier in Dorset by fellow wedding suppliers! An amazing compliment as there are an abundance of fantastic wedding suppliers in Dorset - we were absolutely over the moon to win, it really is the highest accolade!
Soulstar have also just made it to the South West regional finals again for Wedding Band Of The Year in The 2019 Wedding Industry Awards and are eagerly awaiting to see if we make it through these tough finals!
We were a regional finalist last year in The 2018 Wedding Industry Awards and were the only band in Dorset to make it to these finals.
You’ll see lots of bands saying they are the best wedding band or best party band in Dorset, but they’re wrong. We are - and we have the awards to prove it!

FAQs
HOW LONG DO YOU PLAY FOR?
We usually play for 2 x 60 minute sets but in the summer we find it can work better with a short set first followed by a longer set later once the sun (and people’s inhibitions!) disappears. We can also play longer than 2 x 60 minutes although this will incur extra cost.
We can provide music for in between and after our sets and will not pack down our equipment until midnight.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?
Prices depend on varying factors such as date, distance, arrival and finish time and band size so please get in touch for a bespoke quotation.
We offer discounts for mid week functions and can offer you from an acoustic duo up to an 6 piece band.
Our standard pricing assumes an arrival of 6pm and packing down at midnight - if your timings are different to this, then just let us know when you get in touch!
CAN WE REQUEST SONGS?
We would love to learn your first dance for you!
We send you our up to date song list before your event so that you can tell us which songs you love, like and hate! We then put these together for a set that will pack out your dance floor all night long.
WHAT DO THE BAND WEAR?
The band wear smart white shirts with ties and black chinos and our singer wears something glamorous to match.
OUR VENUE HAS A SOUND LIMITER…
Don’t panic! Most venues have sound restrictions and we have lots of experience with them and can adhere to most venues rules. Some venues don’t allow drums so we can offer a band set up using either hotrods or percussion instead of drums.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN COSTS OR BAND REQUIREMENTS?
The price we quote to you is the price you'll pay. As you'll see from our T's & C’s when you enquire with us, as most functions are in the evening and require us to be on site for an extended period of time, we request for food and soft drinks to be provided for us please.
WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER?
We are based in the South of England, but we regularly travel all over for various events.
We are happy to travel further afield and will add our travel costs to our quotation for you. In some instances, it may be necessary for you to provide over night accommodation.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE BAND ARE ON A BREAK?
We can provide music for before, in between and after our sets to save you the added cost of a DJ. Alternatively, you can supply us with either your own mp3 player or laptop for us to put through our system. Unfortunately, we are unable to take requests on the night for songs played during our break.
We are also very happy to work alongside a DJ too!
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE AND PAT TESTED EQUIPMENT?
YES! We have Public Liability Insurance and our equipment is PAT tested.
Often venues will want to see a copy of our certificates and these will be sent through directly when we contact your venue the week before your event.
CAN WE SEE YOU PLAY LIVE ANYWHERE?
YES! Please come and see us play live before booking if you can - a video just doesn’t do it justice!

WHAT IF A BAND MEMBER IS SICK ON THE DAY OF OUR WEDDING?
We are all professional full time musicians and Soulstar is a professionally run band. We work with a number of professional musicians that we've all played with many times before, so that in the event of an emergency or sickness, we are still able to provide a professional band. You won’t even spot the difference!
HOW DO I BOOK YOU?
It couldn't be easier! Email or call with your enquiry and we shall send you a quotation. If you'd like to go ahead and book us, all you need to do is pay a deposit to secure the date and the balance is due the week before your event. Unfortunately, we're unable to hold dates until a deposit has been received.
